City Oilers, Nam Blazers advance to the Semifinals. The atmosphere at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Thursday 11th was electric as fans filled the stadium.The marquee game of the night was between the defending Champions, the City Oilers and the JT Jaguars. The Jaguars had to win in order to force a game 3 but despite fighting till the end, they came up shot losing 67-65. The Jaguars led the game 37-31 at the halftime break but the Oilers found a way in the second half.
In the fourth quarter, Kurt Curry Wegscheider and Moses Maker carried the defending champions offensively.They scored all the 18 City Oilers points including 8 from the free throw line. Having fouled out in game one, Kurt Curry came up big in this game. He finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Moses Maker also had a significant output, 14 points and 8 rebounds.
For the JT Jaguars, Ian Duncan Lubwama had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists while Tong Obde finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds. The City Oilers will be facing the Sommet BC in the semifinals.
In the opening game of the night, the Namuwongo Blazers defeated the Rezlife Saints 76-61 to advance to the semifinals. At the halftime break, the Blazers led the game 42-35 but they turned up the heat in the second half. They made a 13-0 run to take a 19-point in through the fourth quarter and a comeback was always going to be difficult.
Anthony Chukwubuka led the Blazers in scoring with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Jimmy Enabu had 14 points, Micheal Makiadi with 11 and Joel Banza with 10. Micheal Otieno led the scoring in this game with 17 points while Chris Omanye had 13 for the Saints.
