KIU Titans And City Oilers Place Second Round Unbeaten Runs On The Line

With both teams having not lost a single game since the beginning of the Castle Lite National Basketball League second round, KIU Titans square off against defending champions City Oilers in the Friday Night Hoops 9pm tip off at the Lugogo Indoor Arena

A fixture that promises fireworks but is always dominated by City Oilers, this is a rematch of last season's NBL Finals Playoffs in which City Oilers clinched the title in six games via a seven game series. Aside losing two games in the playoffs finals, City Oilers have won the last three regular season meetings against KIU Titans with the last regular season game heading to overtime.

Titans come into this fixture full of confidence and boast one of the finest attacking artillery in the league with Congolese power forward Mpiya Juf shooting around 44.6% from the floor while small forward Edgar Munaba shooting 42.4% from the floor. The Titans have  the most assists among all teams this season and guard Joel Lukoji Banza leads the league averaging 6.6 assists per game. In general the Titans boast the best 2-point percentage just shy below half at 49.5% from the floor and 30.6% from three point range.

City Oilers on the other hand remain unbeaten in the league since their first round loss to the Namuwongo Blazers. The Oilers come into this game on the back of a resilient display against the Blazers to avenge their first round loss last Friday and in good form through out the entire season remaining unbeaten in the second round too.

The Oilers who are familiar to this kind of territory have also shot decently from the floor with a percentage of 48.9% just shy behind the Titans and are the league's best 3-point shooting team shooting at 31.3%. Having won all their second round games, Oilers will face yet another hurdle to keep their unbeaten run alive. Center Titus Lual has been outstanding for the Oilers on the floor shooting 49.4% from two and 34.9% from three. He is a threat from the paint and the three point arc. With the help of guards Ivan Muhwezi and Fayed Baale the Oilers will look to add another win to their belt as the playoffs draw closer.

The game will tip off at exactly 9pm and tickets go for 10,000 shillings via Stanbic Uganda's Flexipay services.
